Town of Duck Lake Celebrates Centennial with ACFC (January 31st 2012) - On Saturday, February 25, 2012, the Town of Duck Lake will celebrate the 100th year of its incorporation as a Town. L'Association Catholique Franco-Canadienne de la Saskatchewan, founded in Duck Lake in 1911, will share in the celebration. The ACFC is a provincial French organization which instituted and promotes the French language, education and religion throughout Saskatchewan. Celebration events include a Mass at the Blessed Sacrament Church, and refreshments, rib-eye steak dinner, entertainment and dance, with Donny Parenteau, at the Duck Lake Belle-a-drome. The evening will incude the unveiling of the ACFC jubilee theme song. Tickets for the event are $35.00 each and are available at the Town Office (English) 467-2277 and the Regional Interpretive Centre (French) 467-2057.

Citzen of the Year (January 9th 2012) - Edwin and Jocelyn Pelletier have been chosen as Duck Lake and District's citizen of the year.

Water samples are sent twice a week to the provincial lab.
Annual drinking water report is available at the Town Office.

Rates: billed monthly
- $15.00 for first 1,000 gallons
- $5.00 for second 1,000 gallons,
- $10.00 per additional 1,000 gallons
- $5.00/month infrastructure charge

 

Sewage

Capacity - 1200 population
Sewage is discharged into lagoons, from which it is pumped for irrigation purposes.
Rates: $15.00/month, $5.00/month infrastructure fee

Streets
The Town of Duck Lake has approximately 75% of the streets and municipal roads paved.

Waste management
Residential garbage pick-up is done weekly - Thursdays

     The town landfill is located approx. 8 km north of Duck Lake with regular hours of operation Thursdays & Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m in summer and 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. in winter.  Household and yard waste - no charge.

              Non-household and construction/demolition waste - minimum fee: $5.00

                                                                                                              Tandem truck & trailer:  $50.00

             Appliances: $10.00

All loads must be sorted, covered and secured.

Use of the landfill outside of regular hours requires that arrangements be made at the Town Office (467-2277). An additional disposal fee of $25.00 is charged.

     

         Blue bag (recycling) pick-up is bi-weekly on Tuesdays. Items are trucked to Valley Action Industries in Rosthern.  Blue bags are available at the town office as well as a calendar with a list of accepted recycle items.
