Notice to Residents – Sump Pump Discharge

The Town would like to remind residents that sump pumps should not discharge directly into municipal sewer lines.

Direct sump pump connections can contribute excess groundwater to municipal infrastructure, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall or rapid snowmelt. This can place unnecessary strain on the system and increase operating costs.

Residents are encouraged to ensure that sump pumps discharge onto their property in a manner that directs water away from building foundations and neighbouring properties.
